THE SAMBURU COMMUNITYDocumentary extract |
Synopsis Specifications |
From 1970 to 2003, hundreds of samburu women claim they have been raped by British soldiers in the north of Kenya. As they brought shame on their community, they have then been beaten and repudiated by their husbands. A handle of them gathered and created Umoja, a village where men are forbidden which quickly became the refuge of samburu women. The success of Umoja pokes the jealousy of men who attack the village regularly and cause many problems with its founder, Rebecca Lolosoli.
